Niagara Dam (Free Camping) Niagara Dam is 60 km north east of Menzies, via Kookynie Road and Niagara Dam Road.
One of the many gold rush ghost towns and landmarks on the Golden Quest Discovery Trail - an epic outback adventure that weaves its way from Coolgardie through the Goldfield’s landscape and history. This is a great camp in an interesting historical area.
There are three designated campsites – one below the dam wall and two to the west of the dam. It is rugged country, but some level sites are available near the dam. Toilets, BBQ, picnic table, dump point and fireplaces are on site.
BYO firewood and bring water in case the dam is empty. Big rig and pet friendly. Today, it makes a scenic stop-off for outback adventurers. Stop for a picnic and a leisurely stroll or dip, or set up camp for the night.
The dam can hold almost 39 million gallons of water and is located in one of the few good natural basin areas on the goldfields. The dam wall is 61 feet high, 570 feet long and 23 feet thick at the base. Teach the kids some history on the way to making memories about your adventures.
